About the role

Reporting to the Manager Systems & Innovation, the Senior Solution Architect is responsible for leading the design, development and optimisation of software solutions aligned with Sedgman’s strategic digital roadmap.

You will provide technical leadership across our application landscape, working closely with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing systems—particularly across IoT, cloud, and data platforms.

This role combines hands-on architecture, technical leadership, and team mentoring, with the opportunity to contribute to enterprise-wide innovation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution architecture and design across web, cloud and IoT systems
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to developers and engineers
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions
• Drive Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD and test-driven development
• Architect and manage Azure-based platforms, including AKS and application delivery patterns
• Oversee data architecture and observability frameworks (e.g. InfluxDB, Grafana)
• Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and CIMIC group stakeholders
• Contribute to multi-regional data strategy and integration initiatives (including CDIP)
• Promote continuous improvement, coding standards, and best practice engineering

About you

You are an experienced and hands-on solution architect with a strong background in cloud, software engineering and industrial digital systems. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy mentoring others while solving complex technical challenges.

Essential:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• 5+ years’ experience in software engineering and cloud application development
• 2+ years’ experience working with IoT platforms in industrial environments
• Proven experience leading or supervising development teams
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (including relevant certifications)
• Experience designing and delivering SaaS solutions and multi-tenant architectures
• Strong development background in .NET / C#, TypeScript or similar
• Experience with CI/CD, Agile and DevOps practices
• Solid experience with SQL, REST APIs, and cloud data services

Highly regarded:

• Experience with Azure IoT Hub, App Services, Logic Apps
• Front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
• Experience with AKS, Helm, and modern deployment patterns
• Exposure to AI/ML platforms (Azure AI Foundry), Databricks, Power BI
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (MQTT, MODBUS, JSON)
• Experience in OT/industrial networking environments
