Prairie Ridge Transfer Station, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a dependable and safety-minded General Laborer to support daily operations in Bonney Lake, WA.
This is a full-time, year-round role for someone who enjoys hands-on work, likes being outdoors, and takes pride in getting the job done right while serving their local community.
This position is a key part of keeping the site running safely and efficiently. You will be working on a small team, so being reliable, showing up ready to work, and being able to handle responsibilities without constant supervision is important. The role also involves working directly with customers, so being able to give clear directions, stay professional, and provide a good experience while enforcing site rules is a key part of the job.
Prairie Ridge is a household waste transfer station that also handles yard waste and recycling. This is a drop-box, hand-unload site, meaning customers unload their own materials, and trailers cannot be tipped or dumped. The site primarily serves residential customers, and employees are highly visible on-site, playing an important role in keeping operations safe, organized, and running smoothly for the community.
Schedule and Pay
- Schedule: Thursday through Monday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Pay Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience
- Overtime opportunities may be available
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties, including site cleanup, litter control, and material handling
- Assist customers with safely unloading household waste, yard debris, and recyclables
- Provide clear instructions to customers and ensure compliance with facility rules and safety guidelines
- Direct and safely manage vehicle traffic entering and exiting the site
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of disposal areas
- Work safely around heavy equipment and support equipment operators as needed
- Operate light equipment or company vehicles on-site as assigned
- Demonstrate accountability by completing tasks independently and supporting team goals
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a physically demanding, outdoor work environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a small team setting
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Ability to work in dusty, noisy environments with strong odors and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for up to 10 hours per shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- This position is safety-sensitive and requires a post-offer background check and drug screening, including marijuana, conducted in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
