This Opportunity
Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of water resources. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.
Your Impact
Assist in the design of water transmission and distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump stations and lift stations, and water/wastewater master planning.
Generate complete, accurate, and concise deliverables and documentation using electronic systems such as Civil 3D.
Assist with performing basic professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams on larger complex projects
Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures as and when applicable.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Familiarity with the concepts of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
Familiarity or working knowledge with the following software: Civil 3D, WaterCAD, SewerCad, OpenRoads Designer, Bentley HAMMER, InfoWater, and/or InfoSewer.
Basic understanding or familiarity with AWWA Manuals such as M11, M23, M28, M41, M77, and AWWA Standards associated with water main system design.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification.
Masters Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
