The primary responsibility of the Reliability Engineer involves increasing the reliability of all manufacturing equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems across the site. This is accomplished by providing engineering and leadership support, in collaboration with the production leadership teams, operations personnel, and site engineering/maintenance to develop plans to eliminate or reduce losses through root cause analysis, assessment of equipment life cycle and breakdowns and FMEA assessments. The Reliability Engineer manages numerous equipment improvement initiatives and projects to achieve desired results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support operations by troubleshooting problems, recommending and implementing repair techniques and equipment improvements using failure and root cause analyses.
- Drive the development, implementation, and improvement of the Asset Reliability Program (ARP). Ensure that the program is adopted and sustained at all levels.
- Participate in the development of design and installation of new and modified installations to ensure their reliability and maintainability.
- Serve as contact for complex troubleshooting efforts on all manufacturing equipment.
- Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, d effect greater use of labor and materials.
- Drive predictive and preventive maintenance activities and ensure frequencies are proper for all equipment based on equipment criticality and failure history.
- Provide technical training and education to all levels of the organization when applicable.
- Assist with the implementation and sustainability of critical spare parts and purchasing management programs.
- Develop preventive and predictive equipment maintenance procedures and documentation for both existing and new equipment installations.
- Focus on long term reliability issues and use reliability principles to decide and make proper improvements.
- Lead high-impact, complex, cross-functional improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability.
- Develop, monitor, and communicate critical departmental targets to improve (TTIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Actively and routinely investigate equipment failures with detailed practical problem-solving techniques to decide root cause and execute countermeasures. Use techniques, such as, pareto analysis, fault tree analysis, cause-effect mapping, failure modes and effects analysis in root cause analysis and corrective action plan development. Oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), deviations, investigation reports (IRs), and audit action follow-ups across all technical teams.
- Support internal and external audits to support compliance.
