Description
To assist with distribution engineering activities across various work streams including but not limited to fault restoration and repair, maintenance, and asset replacement projects. The post holder is also required to take on and manage their own work particularly in relation to LV faults, maintenance and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- May occasionally be required to carry out on-site work (e.g. jointing, fitting, metering) as required subject to past trade experience, training and competency.
- Deliver small asset replacement and upgrade projects on the distribution network.
- Carry out maintenance work and update records when assisting in distribution activities.
- Communicate with developers, contractors, local authorities, and legal professionals for the purpose of projects, outages and road works.
- Will have a high level of Health & Safety responsibility and must work within the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- To arrange materials from the stores and make purchases as required to facilitate work.
- Provide on-site supervision for staff as required (e.g. during LV faults).
- Liaise with customers to arrange work associated with their sites or property.
- Be aware of and comply with local legislation, specifically related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection.
- Will be required to take part in a formal standby roster.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Level 3 certificate in an electrical discipline is preferred
- Experience in Electrical Distribution or Electrical Installations is required
- Must be a Distribution “Competent Person” under the GEL Safety Rules
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be self-motivated to deliver results with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate a current knowledge of the functional structure of Guernsey Electricity, its mission, objectives, strategies, and critical success factors
- Ability to communicate and manage people effectively; continually improving the performance of direct reports by providing feedback, mentoring and coaching
