Overview
The Physician provides comprehensive direct patient care services in support of Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in Okinawa, Japan. This role supports the Defense Health Agency’s mission to deliver high-quality healthcare services to military members, dependents, and authorized beneficiaries in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Physicians may provide preventive, routine, urgent, and specialty medical care while collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams in accordance with DHA policies, military healthcare regulations, and applicable clinical standards.
*Position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care services including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients in assigned clinical settings.
- Deliver routine, preventive, and specialty medical services in accordance with established clinical protocols and standards of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within Government electronic health record systems.
- Participate in peer reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and other clinical performance activities as required.
- Collaborate with nurses, technicians, ancillary staff, and healthcare leadership to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Complete all required orientation, annual training, HIPAA, cybersecurity, and facility-specific compliance training.
- Adhere to infection control standards, blood borne pathogen protocols, and universal precautions.
- Support telehealth or remote healthcare delivery services when required by the task order.
- Comply with all DHA, DoD, installation, and host nation regulations applicable to healthcare delivery in Japan.
- Maintain professional communication and clearly identify contractor status while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an approved residency training program appropriate to the specialty.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or jurisdiction.
- Board certification or board eligibility in applicable specialty area, if required by the task order.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration, if required for the position.
- Demonstrated clinical competency within the preceding two years.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Must meet all Government health screening, immunization, background investigation, and installation access requirements.
- Foreign medical graduates must possess ECFMG certification when applicable.
