Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure availability and reliability of critical equipment (e.g., rolling mills, furnaces, conveyors, cranes, compressors).
- Implement condition monitoring systems (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.)
2. Equipment Reliability & Performance
- Improve equipment uptime and reduce failure rates.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of major breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and track KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and equipment availability
3. Team Management
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Assign responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Provide technical guidance and conduct training programs.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and zero-accident workplace.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
5. Cost Control & Budgeting
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
- Optimize maintenance costs without compromising reliability.
- Monitor inventory and ensure availability of spares.
6. Shutdown Management
- Plan and execute annual/quarterly plant shutdowns.
- Coordinate with production, electrical, and other departments.
- Ensure timely completion within budget.
7. Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Evaluate vendor performance and control service quality.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Implement TPM, Lean, 5S, and other improvement initiatives.
- Drive digitalization and automation in maintenance processes.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Spares optimization (slow/non-moving reduction)

1. B.E / B.Tech – Mechanical / Electrical
2.15–18 years in steel / mining / cement / power industries
