OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE:
Avegant is seeking an Operations Project Manager in Taiwan (Taichung + Taipei area) to support growing light engine and AR device manufacturing activities. The position will be filled by a highly motivated individual capable of working autonomously from Avegant's US headquarters and across our engineering, manufacturing, and accounting teams. As an Operations Project Manager (OPM), you will be the first line of support for our Manufacturing and Operations in Taiwan. You’ll support the CMs and vendors that manufacture and ship our advanced light engines, display modules, and AR devices, helping streamline activities and providing direct feedback and communication to the headquarters in California. This role requires a solid foundation in optics, electronics, and basic mechanical design, as well as a hands-on problem-solving approach and the ability to collaborate across diverse technical teams. This position reports to the Sr. Manufacturing Manager.
The base salary range for this position is $50,000-$75,000 USD (NT$900,000-NT$1,800,000), depending on experience.
PRINCIPAL ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan prototype and MP build schedules and materials with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) teams.
- Coordinate procurement, receipt, and management of manufacturing parts batches.
- Assist team with product line inventory tracking, location-based records, and cycle count reporting in Netsuite.
- Act as a liaison to CMs for monthly inventory reporting and discrepancy resolution.
- Oversee inter-CM logistics, tracking of inventory movement, and assist with customer shipping from Asia.
- Conduct on-site oversight of manufacturing lines as needed.
- Oversee the receiving process, including inspecting and logging raw materials against purchase orders.
- Ensure supplier parts quality verification. Process and file documentation (packing slips, inspection reports) and manage necessary reporting for damaged, scrapped, or obsolete inventory.
- Manage vendor relationships and performance tracking to support procurement planning and budget management.
- Assist with supply chain cost negotiations. Identify and mitigate risks related to material waste, transportation delays, and inventory damage.
- Ensure timely communication and updates across all receiving and shipping activities. Comfortable collaborating with a team in the Pacific time zone.
- Other responsibilities as required.
- Travel within Taichung and Taoyuan for manufacturing support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-10 years of experience in supply chain, materials procurement, or a related field.
- Engineering degree preferred or equivalent technical experience.
- Prior experience within a Contract Manufacturer (CM) factory environment is required.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Netsuite experience is a strong plus).
- QC experience is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and communicate metrology data of products as it relates to inventory.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Must be stationed in Taiwan, Taichung area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience working with AR/VR or wearable device customers.
- Understanding of key optical fundamentals is a plus.
