About the Role
JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is currently recruiting a Leading Hand to support the team at our Corowa site.
This full-time position is responsible for undertaking a key role in the coordination of routine work activities and providing an effective leadership role for production employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide supervision of the day-to-day tasks of Piggery Employees.
- Undertake animal husbandry duties.
- Collect and collate production data and prepare various reports.
- Assist with the coordination of maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate the movement of livestock between sites and for market.
- Manage workload with respect to variations in staffing levels, environmental factors and weather conditions.
- Provide effective on-the-job training for employees.
- Ensure production processes adhere to APIQ standards and any additional JBS Pork Australia standards (as directed).
- Ensure Animal Welfare standards are adhered to at all times.
- Assume responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence (as directed).
- Ensure annual objectives / KPIs are regularly reviewed and met.
- Contribute to key business activities as required.
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, processes and work instructions at all times, and ensure employees comply with such.
Skills & Experience
- Sound understanding of holistic pig production gained through practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise people effectively.
- Working knowledge of WH&S, Quality Assurance, and People & Culture procedures.
- Sound knowledge of Animal Welfare regulations.
- High level communication skills, initiative and strong attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to promote a positive workplace culture and willingness to drive continual improvement in workplace processes.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Preparedness to work flexible hours.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Current Drivers License.
