The Alexa Routines team is building innovative features that allow customers to customize how Alexa works for them and perform recurring tasks automatically. Our team focuses on learning behaviors and proactively offering ready-made Routines to customers, helping them get the most out of their Alexa devices.
You will work closely with engineering and product stakeholders to build features that customers love. You will have the opportunity to work with Generative AI and other state of the art technologies to help build personalization and recommendation solutions from the ground up.
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities on our our team will include:
- Collaborate with Product and UX to translate product requirements into technical requirements.
- Design and build highly scalable and maintainable systems operating at Amazon scale.
- Design and build customer facing features in the Alexa Mobile App
- Gain expertise in innovative technologies and algorithms, including Generative AI.
- Mentor junior engineers through feedback and insightful code reviews.
- Define and implement best practices on the team.
- Maintain and improve existing systems to keep them up-to-date with the latest best practices.
A day in the life
On a given day, you will meet with your teammates to make important decisions about your services architectures and team's technical direction. You will meet with partner teams to align on technical details ensure that the right progress is being made towards shared goals. You will write code to build new features, both for cloud side applications as well as for the Alexa Mobile App. You will see direct feedback from our customers, allowing you to advocate on their behalf and bring your own ideas to the team about what we should build next.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
