Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Fabricate and erect assigned components using various metals, including stainless steel, galvanized steel, and black iron (e.g., angle iron, channel iron, round stock, and flat stock).
• Perform all three major welding methods: TIG, MIG, and ARC welding.
• Safely operate hand and power tools, as well as shop equipment, including metal shear, brake, drill press, lathe, plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene torch, and sanders.
• Weld in multiple positions, including flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
• Execute precision work within close tolerances using measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Set up and operate welding and fabrication equipment based on blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
• Inspect completed parts for defects and verify conformance to specifications.
• Perform machining tasks, including lathe operations, broaching, drilling, tapping, and related functions.
• Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean, and organized manner, including welding, cutting, and measuring equipment.
• Follow company policies and procedures, with a strong focus on safety standards and regulations.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Internal Candidates may not exceed 4 attendance points and no disciplines in 6 months or suspensions in the last 12 months.
Education and Experience: Must have one year of industrial maintenance experience and at least 6 months of continuous work history with the same employer within the last 24 months, or was attending technical school or training within the last 24 months to be considered for this position. High school diploma or GED required.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation. Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Communication Skills: Effective communication and basic math skills required.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
Leveling is determined during the interview process based on the candidate's skill set, knowledge, and experience.
This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.
Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.
