Job DetailsJob Location: The Journey School - Moreno Valley, CA 92553Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $250.00 - $250.00 Salary**This position pays a daily rate of $250  REAL Journey Academies (RJA) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in the Inland  Empire. We aim to impact and revitalize communities through the development of education and other supportive partnerships.   Job Purpose  Under the direction of the site administrator, the Resident Substitute Teacher provides consistent, on-site classroom coverage and supports continuity of learning and student engagement across the campus.  Resident Substitutes support both planned and day-to-day absences, including coverage for  IEP meetings and other scheduled needs, and help maintain clear expectations and routines for learners. They also serve as an ambassador for substitute teachers, acting as a point of contact to help substitutes feel welcomed, oriented, and prepared for the day.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities  Provide classroom coverage for teacher absences as assigned  Follow teacher's lesson plans when available  When plans are not available, use provided materials (e.g., Sub Kits) to keep learners  engaged  Establish and reinforce clear expectations for behavior and participation Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment  Supervise learners during instructional and non-instructional time  Leave a brief summary for the teacher regarding lesson progress and student  engagement  Build positive relationships with learners across the campus  Support consistency in expectations for learners across classrooms  Serve as an ambassador for substitute teachers by:  Welcoming and orienting substitutes to the campus  Sharing basic routines and expectations  Serving as a resource during the school day  Follow all school policies and site procedures  Physical Demands  Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move  objects  Occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and reaching for  extended periods of time  Occasional computer work, including but not limited to typing  Compensation & Benefits  This is an opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining instructional continuity and  supporting a strong learning environment across the school  REAL Journey Academies offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid  time off, and a 403b Savings Plan QualificationsMinimum Requirement ● 30-day Substitute Teaching Permit – Required Desired Skills and Traits  Ability to manage a classroom and keep learners engaged Clear and respectful communication with learners and staff  Flexibility across grade levels and classroom settings  Ability to establish expectations and maintain a positive learning environment Reliability and professionalism  Preferred Skills & Traits  Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience  Experience working with diverse learner populations  Familiarity with multiple subject areas and grade levels
