Responsible for the implementation and continuous assessment of evidence-based curriculums aimed at providing prevention and education services and activities for youth and adults.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate , plan and provide oversight of curriculum driven prevention and education activities for adults and youth;
Coordinates the development, delivery and assessment of the BRAVE Program and education services;
Develops correspondence to parents and Empowerment staff about student progress, disciplinary problems, or needs for interventions;
Responsible for assessing program outcomes, preparing reports and making recommendations to enhance program services;
Responsible for effective grant management to include meeting deliverables and reporting requirements;
Coordinates community events and workshops aimed to providing prevention education outreach;
Provides outreach and follow-up services to the tribal population in matters of prevention services, or other related issues;
Provides oversight for educational presentations to community and families on prevention, intervention and substance abuse issues;
Reviews and authorizes requisitions for supplies, material, USDA approved snacks;
Responsible for collecting, reviewing, and reporting curriculum activity logs, training records, activity reports and other related program data to Directors and grant officers;
Provides oversight on client/student records and update accordingly.
Collaborates activities and events with other departments and/or agencies;
Assist and participate in the YDSP Emergency Management Program and assigned roles;
Other position-related duties as required and assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field; certified in the State of Texas as a Certified Prevention Specialist; 3 years experience working with youth; must be able to travel for training and weekend program field activities; must possess a valid Texas Driver License and be insurable; must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal history background investigation;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of community health issues and services; knowledge of substance abuse prevention with focus on evidence based and alternative activities for youth ages 6-17; Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups; Demonstrate strong commitment to student development and success through advocacy, positive attitude, adaptability, approachability, and problem solving; knowledge of program implementation and delivery; ability to document accurately and analyze program data; must possess good report-writing skills and must be proficient in MS Office applications; ability to develop surveys and analyze data; excellent organizational skills and administrative abilities; ability to work effectively as part of a management team dedicated to collaboration of program initiatives; work in a dynamic environment and handle multiple responsibilities; ability to solve problems creatively; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to effectively interact with local agencies that foster and assist in prevention activities; ability to develop and provide presentations to youths and adults; must be knowledgeable of Native American cultural issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
