The instructor plays a key role in advancing Goodwill’s mission by helping individuals overcome barriers to employment through structured learning, role playing, and real-world preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
Facilitate classroom-based and/or hybrid instruction covering core career readiness topics, including:
Workplace communication and professionalism
Resume and job application development
Interview preparation and practice
Digital literacy and job search tools
Workplace expectations and soft skills
Time management, teamwork, conflict resolution, and problem-solving
Deliver instruction in an engaging, inclusive, and accessible manner for diverse adult learners
Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate varying skill levels, learning styles, and barriers to employment
Program Development & Improvement
Contribute to continuous improvement of curriculum and training materials
Collaborate with workforce development staff to align instruction with labor market needs
Incorporate employer feedback and industry trends into training content
Assessment & Reporting
Track participant attendance, progress, and outcomes
Maintain accurate records in program management systems
Evaluate learner progress through assessments, activities, and practical exercises
Report program metrics and outcomes to leadership as required
Community & Employer Engagement
Support connections between participants and employment opportunities
Participate in job fairs, employer panels, and community workforce initiatives as requested
Build relationships with local employers to strengthen placement opportunities
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Workforce Development, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in training, adult education, workforce development, career coaching, or related role
Experience working with diverse and/or underserved populations preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of workforce development principles and employability skills
Ability to teach and engage adult learners in a classroom or workshop setting
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to motivate individuals facing barriers to employment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic digital tools (email, job boards, LMS platforms)
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Cultural competency and commitment to inclusive instruction
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in job readiness training, vocational education, or coaching
Familiarity with local labor markets and employer hiring practices
Certification in career coaching, workforce development, or training (preferred but not required)
