Summary
The successful candidate will work within the Terminal Services component of the L&S Terminals organization, which supports a dynamic and geographically diverse group of Light Products and Asphalt facilities.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support and guidance to ensure all electrical, instrumentation, automation equipment, and supporting systems are installed and maintained to facilitate safe and reliable operations. This role supports Terminal projects and issues related to electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment, and collaborate with other departments accordingly. A successful candidate can develop decisions based on accurate data and reliability studies. Lead/support strategic goals and initiatives to create efficiencies, increase reliability, implement new technology, and ensure long-term success of the Terminals organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and oversee documentation and design parameters for electrical equipment such as electrical one-line diagrams, panelboard schematics, motor starter schematics, control panel schematics, MCC & Starter Rack Layout drawings, PLC System drawings, preset schematics, overfill protection systems, and standards.
Keep abreast of emerging technologies and support the testing of new designs before deployment in the field.
Provide troubleshooting and technical guidance to Specialists, Electronic Services Technicians, and Operations personnel regarding electrical, instrumentation, and automation equipment and processes.
Recommend corrective measures when equipment failures and/or deficiencies occur, including short- and long-term solutions. Develop decisions based on accurate data and reliability studies
Support the annual budget process with appropriate data and justification. Ensure project EFCs are within approved budget allocations. Recommend accelerations/deferrals as needed to ensure Terminals remains within set Capital and Expense budgets.
Develop condition-based maintenance/continuous monitoring applications in support of digital modernization efforts with justification strategies to support.
Develop and utilize reliability tools to analyze equipment performance and associated costs to drive improvements to maintenance strategies for electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
Perform timely design reviews and mentor L&SE Project Leaders in best practices related to internal and external standard/code compliance for electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
Support the equipment sparing process for both in-service and new equipment to ensure minimal lost opportunity cost when unplanned failures occur for electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
Review electrical, instrumentation and automation equipment for obsolescence concerns and develop justification for upgrade or replacement.
Support development of ITPM (Inspection, Test, and Preventive Maintenance) strategies.
Review lost opportunity events and develop action plans to address bad actors.
Complete assigned Intelex (Management of Change and Incident Recommendation) tasks. Work with the Responsible Person to address necessary items timely and accurately.
Participate in Stop-Help-Start calls to provide guidance on safely and efficiently returning equipment to service after failure or abnormal operating conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
Four (4) years of related experience required.
