About the RoleAs ESG Controller, you will play a key role in integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) requirements into controlling, performance management, and reporting processes. You will ensure that ESG data and KPIs meet finance-controlling standards such as governance, transparency, consistency, and auditability, in line with EU CSRD and ESRS requirements. This role is critical in making sustainability data reliable, decision-relevant, and audit-ready.
What You Will Do- Act as the Senior ESG Controlling counterpart for assigned CSRD and ESRS metrics, managing end-to-end data governance, validation, consolidation, and documentation
- Apply controlling principles (consistency, comparability, plausibility, reconciliation) to ESG KPIs and data processes
- Collaborate closely with Financial Controlling, Internal Controls, and other stakeholders to align ESG data with group reporting standards
- Perform quality reviews, variance analysis, and plausibility checks, including year-over-year and cross-site comparisons
- Support the preparation and governance of external sustainability disclosures, ensuring audit-ready documentation and traceability
- Design, implement, and continuously improve ESG-related internal control systems (ICS)
- Drive enhancements in ESG reporting systems, data models, and processes with a focus on automation and scalability
- Ensure compliance with internal governance policies and external audit requirements
- Act as a subject-matter expert, guiding ESG data owners on methodologies, KPIs, and reporting standards
- Serve as a key contact for internal and external auditors on ESG controlling topics
What You Will Need- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Controlling, or a related field (sustainability specialization is a plus)
- 3–5 years of experience in Controlling, Finance, Reporting, Audit, or ESG-related roles
- Strong understanding of controlling, reporting, and internal control frameworks applied to ESG data
- Knowledge of EU CSRD, ESRS, and EU Taxonomy, with the ability to translate requirements into controlling processes
- Experience with KPI frameworks, data analysis, and reporting governance
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and audit readiness
- Proficiency in digital reporting tools, data systems, and process automation
- Independent, structured, and proactive working style
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English and comfortable working in a global environment
- Experience in SAP FI/CO and MS Office; SAP S/4HANA is an advantage
