About Womensline
Womensline is a 24/7/365 free crisis helpline for women and children across Queensland experiencing domestic and family violence. We operate from an intersectional feminist framework, acknowledging that domestic and family violence is gender-based violence, predominantly perpetrated by men against women and children. We provide immediate individualised support and options to help victim-survivors feel safe again, whether they want to stay in the home, are thinking about leaving or have already left.
About the role:
As an Immediate Response Practitioner, you will receive and respond to incoming calls to Womensline. Key responsibilities -
- Conducting initial assessments to determine the urgency of the caller's needs
- Identifying appropriate support pathways
- Providing referrals to appropriate services when required
Role requirements:
- Completed tertiary qualification (min. bachelor's degree) in social work, human services or other relevant fields.
- Experience working in a similar environment (i.e. Telephone based client support).Other work experience within the social and community services field may be considered.
- Strong computer and telephone multitasking skills, with the ability to accurately document case notes in real time and maintain database integrity.**Womensline receives a high volume of calls**
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic, family and sexual violence, and how DFSV relates to gender-based violence.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high stress matters calmly and effectively.
- Experienced in providing respectful, supportive and culturally safe responses for people from diverse communities.

- Availability to complete 1 week of onboarding training
