SUMMARY The Integration Engineer role requires a strong background in Confluent Kafka and micro services architecture. The Integration Engineer leads the transformation of our legacy point-to-point system integrations into a modern, scalable, and event-driven ecosystem. This role is instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying integration solutions that power our enterprise applications and data platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below. • Design and implement scalable and reliable integration solutions using Confluent Kafka with pub/sub messaging pattern and related technologies. • Convert legacy point-to-point integrations into ◦ loosely coupled ◦ event-driven ◦ Independently deployable ◦ Scalable with micro services based architectures. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define integration requirements, standards, and best practices. • Develop and maintain APIs and integration services using modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js). • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot Kafka clusters, producers, consumers, and schema registry configurations. • Ensure integration solutions are secure, fault-tolerant, and highly available. • Work with DevOps and Cloud teams to deploy integration solutions using CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments. • Maintain comprehensive documentation of integration flows, schemas, and service contracts. • Champion the adoption of event-driven architecture principles across the organization. • Responsible for development, testing, deployments and implementing integration processes in various environments • Experience on Azure DevOps to build the solutions and implement CI/CD change release strategy • Work with Operations teams to minimize the production issues/bug fixes to improve productivity • Develop and maintain processes which help minimize manual efforts and improve operational efficiencies’ in integrations space to contribute to continuous improvement • Contribute strategically to consolidate and leverage existing applications to streamline business processes and reduce overhead • Communicate effectively with senior management and all users of information services and system • Oversight and accountability for all integration flows and data quality ensuring SLAs are met • Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required for the Job The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
Education and Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field • 3+ years of experience in backend development or application integration engineering. • Strong hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka for application integration, including topics, producers/consumers, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and stream processing. • Proficiency in Java, the primary language for Kafka-based integration and microservice development. • Skilled in designing and building APIs • Solid understanding of event-driven architecture, pub/sub messaging patterns, and application decoupling strategies. • Experience modernizing point-to-point integrations into event-based, scalable, and loosely coupled systems. • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and application observability/logging frameworks. • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (EIPs) and security best practices for inter-service communication.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: • Vendor certification (Azure Data Engineering, Snowflake Certifications, Confluent Kafka) preferred.
