

TThe Brown University Health Academic Center and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals in Providence, RI, are seeking a Scientific Director of Hematology to join our esteemed team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading academic, non-profit medical institution while receiving a faculty appointment at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
In the role of the Scientific Director of Hematology, You will work with the Director of Hematology and will provide technical and administrative oversight of the special hematology section of the hematology laboratory service, including the area of flow cytometry. In addition, provide consultative services to the clinical staff in all aspects of special hematology, maintain the laboratory in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies and ensure up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and their applications to improving the quality of the special hematology laboratory. He/she will also be expected to participate in teaching residents and fellows, supervising clerkships for medical students at Brown University, and providing instructional support to the medical technologist training program in the Department of Pathology.
The incumbent will participate in all quality control and quality assurance programs as they relate to special hematology and must qualify for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor or Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University. For incumbents with an M. D. degree the candidate must possess a medical license from the State of Rhode Island with 5 years of experience in the area of hematology. For incumbents with a Ph.D. degree, the candidate should have 5 years of experience in hematology.
