The Retirement Plan Administration Supervisor is responsible for assisting the department with retirement plan administration, testing, and compliance and may participate in special projects requested by clients. This includes managing multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously. Tasks are typically conducted with little to no supervision but under the review of department leadership. Delegation and supervisory responsibilities will occur with less experienced staff. This position may also involve working cross-departmentally with other Boulay Departments to effectively accomplish projects and tasks

Client Facing and Technical Work:
- Review of census information imports and asset information in preparation of all annual testing
- Prepare or review complex Forms 5500 and related schedules
- Review more basic Forms 5500 and related schedules
- Review and delegate trust accounting projects and other related tasks
- Perform annual compliance testing (i.e. ADP/ACP discrimination testing, top heavy testing, and 402(g) and 415 testing)
- Responsible for more complex plan administration duties
- Possess technical familiarity with plan rules regarding distributions, loans, and hardships
- Perform ERISA research relating to employee benefit plans and payroll issues
- Prepare or review employer contribution calculations using various allocation methods (i.e. pro-rata, permitted disparity, and cross-tested formulas)
- Respond to client questions or inquiries
- Draft and develop client communications
- Identify and communicate opportunities/issues with reviewer/Partner
- Proactively coordinate, plan, and schedule work flow for effective engagement management
- Initiate and manage client communication with staff and/or superiors
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to gather information and resolve client matters
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Share knowledge, train, and serve as a role model for less experienced staff
- Assist less experienced staff with poise and professionalism, especially during peak work periods
- Provide timely feedback to less experienced staff as needed
- Assist management in motivating staff and building morale
- Begin to develop knowledge of expertise with Firm personnel and service offerings
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Enter time and scheduling activities in a timely manner
- Keep calendars current for scheduling/planning purposes
- Effectively and proactively communicate with superiors on status of tasks
- Request assistance from reviewer after spending appropriate amount of time on any given problem or issue
- Seek out new projects when workload is light and help out when others are overloaded
Other:
- Demonstrate proficiency with software, time management, and communication, while maintaining professionalism and adhering to Firm standards and ethical guidelines.
- Actively contribute to team success by taking on new projects, assisting in recruiting initiatives, assisting others and promoting the Firm’s values.
- Continuously develop professionally through training, staying informed on the Firm's services, and providing exceptional customer service while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrate compliance with all Firm policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook
- Complete other duties, tasks, or special projects as assigned
Requirements
Required:
- Degree or related experience in retirement plan administration
- 4+ years of applicable experience
- Experience with Employee Benefits specific software
- Knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations pertaining to retirement plans
- Ability to understand and articulate plan document language
- Ability to articulate complex benefit information to clients and internal personnel
The annual salary range for this position is: $87,000 - $130,000. This salary range reflects the anticipated responsibilities and qualifications of a successful candidate for this role. Final compensation may vary depending upon an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Individuals may be eligible for additional compensation in the form of incentives, commissions, profit sharing, and more, depending on the role.
