Introduction
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

This is a grant funded contractual position
Responsibilities
you will be responsible to:
- work under the supervision of the Research Associate and Research Coordinator
- ensure that the samples are received and processed as per the protocol/guidelines stated in the research procedure manual for individual projects, to provide quality service on a daily basis or as and when required
- follow and assist seniors in implementation of safety standards according to Research Laboratory Safety Manual on a daily basis for own safety and the safety of the others
- assist in maintaining inventory logs, manual sample receiving and data maintenance record
- confirm by discussing unusual findings found in the specimen currently working on with the seniors to avoid any misleading results going out to the data management facility for projects as and when required
- maintain proper records of results as instructed and compile project results for presentation at departmental meetings
- act vigilantly while performing lab tasks
- select the research potential vendors according to lab needs
- compare and evaluate offers from suppliers
- negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing
- track orders and ensure timely delivery
- review quality of purchased products
- enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases
- maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
- prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
- monitor stock levels and place orders as needed
- coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage.
Requirement
You should have:
- bachelors/graduation in any discipline or Masters (preferably lab sciences.)
- 1–2-year experience in laboratory or hospital/ research facility
- good Knowledge of Laboratory/research procedures
- ability to immediately follow written and oral instructions
- good team player
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
- willingness to work in the communities/field sites
- good Computer and Report Writing Skills.
