Overview
Join our dynamic engineering team as an Electrical Design Engineer, where your expertise will directly impact the design and optimization of complex PCB layouts and schematics. In this critical role, you'll work alongside a passionate engineering team to refine existing designs, discover cost-effective alternatives, and ensure the highest standards of manufacturability, performance, and reliability are met. Your contributions will include executing schematic captures, revising and improving designs, and managing essential documentation necessary for high-quality electrical engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Execute schematic capture and PCB layout updates using advanced EDA tools.
- Maintain and improve existing designs by implementing engineering change orders and leveraging redline markups.
- Conduct design exploration to identify alternative components, second-source options, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Suggest enhancements for manufacturability, component availability, and cost optimization while ensuring designs comply with established constraints and best practices.
- Organize and manage design libraries, symbolic representations, and footprints in a methodical manner.
- Generate and verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) for precision and holistic coverage.
- Produce comprehensive manufacturing output files including Gerbers, assembly drawings, and pick-and-place files.
- Engage in collaborative design reviews and technical documentation with cross-functional teams.
- Track and communicate design modifications, revision histories, and status updates effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in PCB schematic capture and layout design with proficiency in the Cadence toolset: OrCAD Capture and Allegro PCB Designer.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Robust understanding of PCB design principles, including stackup design, impedance control, high-speed signal routing, and DFM/DFA considerations.
- Proven experience in component research, alternate part identification, and effective BOM management.
- Experience with flex and rigid-flex PCB design.
- Experience with high-density interconnect (HDI) PCB designs.
- Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at working across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, showcasing excellent attention to detail and organizational prowess.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Cadence Allegro constraint management and establishing design rule setups.
- Knowledgeable about signal integrity and power integrity aspects.
- Experience supporting consumer electronics or wearable device hardware initiatives.
- Familiarity with component lifecycle management and tracking parts obsolescence.
- Skilled with version control systems for hardware design files
