Responsibilities / Tasks
The tasks and responsibilities for the role include:
- General
- Work cooperatively with the team of engineers and technical staff in the GEA Global Entities in the preparation of quotations and execution of projects as and when required.
- Develop the mechanical design according to given sketches, P&ID’s, layout and specifications under the direction of engineering team.
- Create drawings from basic 2D up to complete 3D modelling required to complete a project, developing a layout of the system, components and parts. This includes design verification and validation.
- Participate in the review of plant, equipment and structures as required.
- Schedule and control own as well as assigned resource’s workflow to meet deadline commitments.
- Undertake control of drafting for small to medium sized projects as required
- Review and submit the drawings prepared by resources against requirements.
- Train/mentor new team members.
- Be on the forefront of 3D plant design using the latest proven software and hardware technologies, bringing the most modern GEA image possible to our clients, reducing costs, delivery time and risk associated to lack of definition.
- Work cooperatively with the Company administrative staff.
- High proficiency in 3D software program, preferable Autodesk Inventor.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD mechanical is a must.
- Knowledge about working with Autodesk Vault or Vault PRO (Local regions define)
- Basic understanding about piping and piping specifications.
- Administration
- Prepare weekly timesheets and project reports.
- Assist in other parts of the Company's business as required to ensure the overall effectiveness of the Company.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Overview
Senior Design Engineer must be self-motivated, detail oriented, possess good English language communication skills, both verbal and written.
Educational Qualification:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Years and Type of Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in Autodesk Inventor Professional, AutoCAD (Machine Design, PID, Skid Engineering, Redesign and optimization experience preferred)
Specific Skills / Knowledge:
- Autodesk Inventor professional, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Vault Pro
- International Code and Standards (FDA, 3A, ANSI, DIN< ISO, ASTM, ASME)
- Understanding of process documents like Process Flow diagram, P&ID and Equipment list, overall plot plan, civil building drawings.
- Working Knowledge of Frame / Stress Analysis in Autodesk Inventor.

- Demonstrate strong planning skills for both resources and materials.
- Good eye for detail, e.g. for seeing small points in drawings, checking work quality.

- People management skills, to be able to instruct staff, deal with difficult staffing situations and maintain a productive, joyful but disciplined working environment.
- Strong organizational skills, people skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate within the organization to all levels.
