Overview
At DDN, we build the data infrastructure that powers some of the world’s most demanding AI, analytics, and high-performance computing environments. We’re looking for an Object Storage Engineer who thrives on solving deep systems challenges and wants to help shape the future of large-scale storage platforms.
Job Description
This is a role for engineers who enjoy solving deep systems problems and want to work on technology that sits at the core of large-scale infrastructure.
What you’ll do
- Design and enhance object storage architecture for scale, performance, and reliability
- Build and optimize core components using C/C++
- Work on systems and services with strong S3 protocol requirements
- Troubleshoot complex storage and systems-level challenges
- Partner with engineering teams to improve storage capabilities for demanding workloads
- Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term platform improvements
What we’re looking for
- Strong hands-on experience in C/C++
- Solid understanding of the S3 protocol
- Proven experience with Object Storage Architecture
- 5-20 years of professional experience
- Current or recent experience in storage, object storage, or closely related systems/infrastructure engineering roles
Good to have
- Exposure to AI data pipelines
- Experience with distributed systems or infrastructure software
- Background in performance-sensitive engineering environments
Why this role is exciting
- You’ll work on infrastructure that matters to large-scale AI and data platforms
- You’ll solve engineering problems where performance, durability, and architecture are critical
- You’ll be part of a team building technology at the heart of next-generation data systems
Who will thrive here
- Engineers with real depth in storage and systems engineering
- People who are comfortable working close to the platform, not just at the application layer
- Builders who enjoy combining low-level engineering with architectural thinking
Who may not be the right fit
- Candidates whose background is mostly generic backend development without meaningful storage depth
- Engineers who have only consumed S3-based systems, rather than worked on them directly
- Profiles where object storage experience is peripheral or outdated
