The Quality Systems & Site Operations Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving a practical, site‑focused quality management system across Lumax’s manufacturing, construction, and subcontracted operations.
This role ensures that all site work related to the manufacture, installation, and commissioning of solar PV support structures is executed in line with approved standards, procedures, and best‑practice quality controls. The role leads a team of quality controllers and inspectors, oversees subcontractor quality compliance across multiple sites, and ensures that quality data is captured efficiently through a user‑friendly digital QA/QC platform.
The position plays a critical role in embedding a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across construction and execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Design, implement, and maintain a practical Quality Management System (QMS) aligned to construction and site execution requirements.
- Analyse existing processes, site practices, and quality controls to identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for quality non‑conformances, defects, and recurring site issues.
- Develop, propose, and implement approved quality improvement initiatives.
- Support management with data‑driven reporting, trends, and improvement recommendations.
2. Site Quality Control & Execution
- Develop and maintain Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for site execution and installation activities.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to site work and construction activities.
- Ensure QC standards are consistently applied by Lumax construction teams and subcontractors across all sites.
- Conduct regular site visits and audits to verify compliance with approved procedures, specifications, and drawings.
- Manage punch lists, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and close‑out processes in collaboration with engineering and operations teams.
3. Subcontractor Quality Management
- Lead the quality onboarding of subcontractors, ensuring understanding and acceptance of Lumax quality standards and procedures.
- Ensure subcontractors execute work in accordance with approved QMS, QCPs, and SOPs.
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and maintain performance records.
- Participate in subcontractor evaluations and corrective action implementation when required.
4. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and manage a team of quality controllers and inspectors.
- Allocate quality resources effectively across multiple active sites.
- Train and mentor quality team members to ensure consistent quality practices.
- Support construction and engineering teams with quality guidance and hands‑on problem solving.
5. Quality Documentation & Digital Systems
- Define quality documentation requirements per project and ensure proper record keeping by Lumax teams and subcontractors.
- Implement and manage a cost‑effective, user‑friendly digital QA/QC system suitable for site conditions.
- Ensure the system enables simple and efficient data capture by construction personnel.
- Oversee the use of the system for inspections, checklists, NCRs, punch lists, and reporting.
- Train construction, quality, and engineering teams in the use of the QA/QC software tools.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and timely quality data is captured across all sites.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in quality site inspection in steel fabrication and installation
- Relevant technical qualification
- Experience in ISO quality systems
