Job Title: Data Governance Specialist
Working Pattern: Full Time
Working location: Bristol/Hybrid (minimum 3 Days/week in the office)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Data Governance Specialist to join the digital and IT Defence team in Bristol.
You will play a critical role in shaping the organisation’s data management and ensuring data quality, compliance, and effective utilisation.
You will be responsible for data modelling, data governance, data quality assurance, process improvements, risk mitigation and training & awareness across the defence programmes, working closely with IT, export control, security, cyber and business teams to align data practices with compliance requirements.
What you will be doing:
Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models, define data structures, relationships, and hierarchies and ensure alignment with business requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with customer data compliance requirements. Monitor data access controls and permissions. Educate employees on data governance principles and best practices
Support the development and implementation of data quality assurance, identify data anomalies and work business functions to improve data quality across systems.
Continuously assess and enhance compliance processes related to data governance and quality, support development and implementation of data projects and propose process improvements to streamline data-related workflows

To be successful in this role you will need to:
Be flexible travelling to Japan/Italy on a regular basis
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
Proficiency in data profiling and data modelling tools
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of data governance principles and data quality frameworks
