JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client centred model of care, the Chargehand provides supervision to designated staff and performs related administrative duties a majority of the time. Facilitates the resolution of work problems by using recognized methodologies and liaising with clients. Participates in the development and monitoring of preventative maintenance programs, including the use of a computerized maintenance management system. Performs skilled steamfitter, refrigeration mechanic or industrial instrumentation work at the journeyman level on heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) equipment or skilled repair, maintenance and programming duties on related electronic equipment, including the use of the building automation system.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, plus five (5) years' recent, related experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Industrial Instrumentation Mechanic or Refrigeration Mechanic recognized by the Province of British Columbia or graduation from a recognized program in Electronics or Electrical Power Technology.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to supervise.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
