About the role:
The Consultant exercises good judgment and is responsible for working independently with minimal instruction whilst making sound decisions to resolve moderately complex technical issues that impact one's own area. This role independently prioritizes work and meets deadlines, contributing to project success by applying technical expertise and leading specific work streams within larger engagements. This role focuses on developing client management skills and broadening technical expertise.
What you will do:
- Strategic Consulting: Conduct architectural discovery sessions and "Design-and-Build" workshops to align technical solutions with business outcomes.
- Solution Delivery: Lead the end-to-end implementation of OpenShift Virtualization, including platform installation, networking (OVN-K), and storage (OpenShift Data Foundation/Ceph).
- Migration Leadership: Plan and execute large-scale VM migrations (from VMware or Hyper-V) using the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV), ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Automation Mastery: Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines using Ansible and GitOps principles to ensure repeatable, production-ready environments.
- Client Advocacy: Act as a technical liaison between the customer and Red Hat Product Engineering, identifying product gaps and advocating for feature enhancements.
What will you bring:
- Deep Virtualization Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of KVM and QEMU. Significant experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) is required to facilitate migrations.
- Container Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes, specifically focused on KubeVirt or running stateful workloads.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced proficiency with Ansible and Terraform for full-stack automation.
- Enterprise Networking/Storage: Deep understanding of software-defined networking (SDN), load balancing, and persistent storage protocols (CSI, iSCSI, Fiber Channel).
- Consulting Experience: Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations, handle project scope creep, and present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Linux Foundations: Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including performance tuning and security hardening.
The following experience is considered a plus:
- Certifications: Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in a billable consulting role for a global technology firm.
- DevOps/GitOps: Familiarity with ArgoCD, Tekton, or Jenkins for CI/CD workflows.
