Responsible for warmly welcoming and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, and maintaining smooth flow in the dining room, the Host ensures guests feel valued from arrival to departure. This role requires exceptional communication skills, poise under pressure, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Greet guests promptly and courteously, providing a warm and sincere welcome
Manage reservations efficiently, taking calls, recording all necessary information, and confirming bookings as per standing procedures
Determine and control the number of reservations accepted per shift to maintain optimal flow and service standards
Seat guests evenly across all sections to ensure a balanced and attractive dining room and fair distribution of guests among servers
Maintain an accurate count of guests seated in each station throughout the shift
Accurately manage waitlist when applicable—provide estimated wait times within five minutes and explain the wait system clearly and courteously to guests
Coordinate with service and bus staff to ensure guest needs are met promptly, including special party seating and table adjustments
Complete and relay telephone messages promptly (within 10 minutes) to the appropriate team member
Monitor and coordinate cleanliness of washrooms and host area in collaboration with bussers
Keep the host desk and waiting area clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
Handle gift certificate sales with accuracy and accountability
Move tables and seating arrangements as needed to accommodate party sizes
Engage with guests pleasantly, maintaining a positive attitude and good humor in all interactions
Communicate effectively with guests and team members to ensure seamless service delivery
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience in a full-service restaurant or equivalent hospitality environment
Strong math skills and the ability to manage waitlists and seating charts accurately
Familiarity with menu items, daily specials, restaurant layout including table and station numbers
Punctual, dependable, and able to adhere to scheduled shifts consistently
Warm, outgoing, and sincere personality with excellent interpersonal skills
Physical ability to stand for long periods and move safely throughout the restaurant environment
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, noisy, and sometimes crowded setting
Ability to safely move chairs, highchairs, and booster seats as needed
Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must have Clark County Food Handler card and Alcohol Awareness Card
