Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE The purpose of the Instrument Technician is to ensures the efficient operation of process instrumentation / ASRS Automation Equipment.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY • Troubleshoot and repair all conventional instrumentation including DCS, Analyzers and ASRS Automation Equipment. • Perform daily paperwork as required. • Complete daily route check of assigned area. • Calibration of all conventional instrumentation, Analyzers & DCS. • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements. • Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits. • Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal. • Work outside normal shift hours as needed, including on call duty as assigned. • Maintain regular and reliable attendance. • Perform other duties as assigned.
III. QUALIFICATIONS • Education ◦ High School diploma or equivalent with or Two (2) years’ experience (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) ◦ Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) • Previous Related Experience Required ◦ 2 years of experience (PLC, Analyzer & DCS experience preferred) and a high school diploma or equivalent; Or Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electronics or related fields. • Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job ◦ Problem-solving mindset ◦ Safety Certification or safety classes a plus but not required. ◦ Troubleshooting the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently ◦ Preventive maintenance knowledge ◦ Good communication skills ◦ Accountability and reliability ◦ Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn ◦ Complete Daily Route Check of assigned areas
