POSITION SUMMARY
The Paint Advanced Engineer serves as the technical authority for industrial paint and surface finishing processes, supporting manufacturing operations, new product introductions, and technology deployment. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, optimization, and standardization of paint processes to ensure product quality, cost effectiveness, safety, and environmental compliance.
This position works cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety to support NPDI programs, capacity expansions, and continuous improvement initiatives, requiring a high level of autonomy and technical leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and own paint and surface finishing processes including pretreatment, powder coating, liquid paint, and curing systems.
- Support NPDI programs by defining paint specifications, validation plans, and production ramp-up strategies.
- Develop and maintain paint process standards, control plans, and operating procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, yield, cycle time, and material cost reduction.
- Analyze paint-related defects using Six Sigma and root cause methodologies.
- Lead paint equipment selection, layout design, and capital projects.
- Ensure regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance of paint operations.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and operators.
- Maintain documentation including BOM impact, routings, PFMEA, and work instructions.
- Support supplier evaluations and material qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with specialization in industrial paint processes.
- Strong experience with powder coating and/or liquid paint systems.
- Knowledge of pretreatment chemistry, curing systems, and defect analysis.
- Experience supporting NPDI and capital projects.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
Six Sigma certification preferred.
