Astellas’ Global Capability Centres - Overview Astellas’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.

Location and Working Environment
GCC POLAND: This is a permanent role based in our Global Capability Centre in Warsaw, Poland and hybrid working with the expectation for some office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business need. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office

Purpose & Scope - This position is responsible for positively influencing Astellas’ corporate image, strengthening employee engagement, and supporting the company’s global business and reputational goals across regions, markets, and affiliates. The role leads and delivers integrated internal and external communications for the Global Commercial and Medical Affairs organization and serves as a key communications partner to enhance the visibility, impact, and leadership narrative of the Chief Commercial and Medical Affairs Officer (CCMAO).
- The position supports global and regional business objectives through engaging, creative, timely, and effective communications, including change communications, product and brand communication strategy, and compelling storytelling that reinforces strategic priorities and key messages. Communications are designed to help diverse stakeholders understand the value delivered by Astellas, building familiarity, credibility, and trust across internal and external audiences.
- The role works in close partnership with Communications colleagues across geographic regions and major markets, as well as Global Brand Communications, Corporate Communications, R&D Communications, and Investor Relations. This role will work to integrate resources, align governance, and apply consistent processes and interaction models. This ensures scalable, high‑impact communications that can be effectively adopted and localized by affiliates.
- The position is accountable for building strong, collaborative relationships across the global communications function and providing strategic communications counsel to the Commercial Leadership Team and stakeholders across the Global Commercial and Medical Affairs organization, with influence spanning enterprise, regional, and external environments.
Role and Responsibilities - Elevate awareness of Astellas and build trust with external stakeholders across regions and markets, including industry, government bodies, patient groups, customers, media, and the broader public.
- Plan and implement an annual external facing strategic communications program that supports enterprise reputation, product and brand narratives, and key commercial priorities.
- Partner with Brand Communications and global brand teams to support product and brand communication strategies, ensuring consistent narrative, message clarity, and alignment with corporate positioning.
- Support the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in maximizing executive visibility and reputation building opportunities across internal and external platforms.
- Lead the development of strategic communications materials (e.g., press releases, Q&As, key message frameworks, executive materials, press kits, corporate advertising), ensuring content is fit for purpose, compliant, and adaptable for regional and affiliate use.
- Support Communications and Business leadership in executing timely, clear, and compliant communications during issues or crises, contributing to the Crisis Management process.
- Monitor internal sentiment and external media coverage to inform response strategies and stakeholder engagement.
Continue: Role and Responsibilities - Partner with the Head of Commercial Communications to support the CCO and leadership team in driving strategic alignment, engagement, and behavior change across the global Commercial organization.
- Lead executive communications for the CCO, ensuring clarity, authenticity, and consistency during periods of transformation and change.
- Develop and execute change communications strategies that support organizational shifts, new ways of working, portfolio evolution, and business priorities across regions and affiliates.
- Devise and implement an internal communications strategy that engages employees and reinforces understanding of strategy, objectives, values, and direction.
- Contribute to strategic planning, performance monitoring, and KPI tracking for communications initiatives.
- Establish methodologies to measure communications effectiveness, leveraging insights and data to inform continuous improvement.
- This role exerts significant influence across internal and external communications, shaping enterprise level narratives, leadership positioning, brand and product storytelling, and change communications.
- Operates across global, regional, and affiliate environments, enabling consistent yet locally relevant communications that support Astellas’ commercial and reputational objectives.
- To fully understand, comply with, and challenge as appropriate. To raise any concerns in a timely manner with the relevant manager(s) including reference to the Ethics and Compliance team and/or Ethics and Compliance Helpdesk. Regularly undertake and refresh mandatory Ethics and Compliance training in order to maintain knowledge and expertise to enable informed consent and personal accountability.
Required Qualifications - BS or BA Degree or Equivalent in journalism, communications or related field
- Substantial years of increasing corporate communications or public relations experience
- Healthcare, life sciences or pharma/biotech experience with strong customer focus; in multi-disciplinary, matrix and cross-cultural settings
- Awareness and understanding of EFPIA and other relevant codes of practice and how they apply to Communications
- Track-record of leading planning process with excellent organisational and collaboration skills
- Solid experience in the media or media management
- Significant corporate communications or public relations experience
- Experience providing effective strategic counsel to senior management, including President/CEO and HR
- Experience leading people and building strong working relationships across organisations
- Demonstrable experience of developing robust strategies that support internal engagement
- Proven ability to be visionary, innovative, creative and experience in new communications trends, with a proven track record in providing confident, persuasive and appropriate communications counsel to senior leaders
- Credible dealing with top/senior management and key stakeholders
- Self-starter, able to initiate, drive and share strategic communications initiatives
- Customer focused approach - working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure joint projects / programs align with the objectives set out
- Able to work in global or multi-national environment, seeing ‘bigger picture’
- Proven compliance expertise; to understand and comply with industry laws and relevant regulations and work productively with E&C/ legal reviewers
