The Senior Specialist, Corporate Claims Investigative Services will provide direction and support with respect to technical claims management for their assigned discipline. As a senior technical discipline leader, you will contribute to the development of investigative and claims practices & procedures, technical training, resources and communication. You will monitor results, identify trends and develop innovative solutions to address opportunities and challenges facing the discipline. The Sr Specialist, Corporate Claims, Investigative Services will work collaboratively with claims peers and leaders to deliver on objectives and client service expectations for their discipline.
How you will create impact:
- Participates in the development of Investigative Services procedures, processes, actions, and plans to ensure that agreed upon national discipline benchmarks and goals are met. This includes successful implementation of strategic new technology and systems enhancements.
- Works closely with Fraud analytics and claims portfolio to proactively identify and monitor fraud trends. In collaboration with these partners, use business acumen and technical expertise to develop recommendations to address concerns. Work with operational partners to effectively implement recommendations.
- Participate in the development of KPIs and PIs for the discipline and in setting performance objectives. Uses dashboards and self-service analytics tools to understand and manage the discipline and optimize decision making with manager, Technical consultant, technical supervisors, Learning and Operational peers, supports the development and delivery of discipline related technical claims training, resources, and communication
- As a national senior technical resource for the discipline, maintains expert knowledge on company, legislative, and industry trends affecting technical policy wording, policy interpretation and claims handling.
- Participate in the development of national policies and procedures that align with claims and company goals and objectives, legislative changes, and evolve our claims handling for the future.
- Proactively identify opportunities for continuous process innovations, loss costs controls and systems for discipline and develop implementation plans
- Participates in the development and updating of Investigative Services file handling practices & procedures to ensure quality Investigation delivering on both loss cost controls and quality client service.
- Work with Quality Management team, monitor adherence to corporate standards and performance guidelines, identify gaps and recommend remedies to address gaps and drive achievement of national quality management goals
- Actively respond to business partners technical discipline requests, such as Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting and Product, in collaboration with Claims Analytics and Portfolio Claims.
- Partner closely with Claims Analytics and Claims Portfolio to complement each others strengths, and provide the technical and business acumen needed in achievement of goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with internal business partners, such as product, actuarial, finance and distribution, on technical wording and file handling, representing the discipline.
- With all stakeholders, support the story to explain claims technical application, investigations, processes, procedures, strategies, and tactics to address trends
To join our team:
- Minimum 7 years extensive and progressive experience in a claims environment and 5 years technical experience with P&C Fraud.
- You have a university degree in Business, Financial, Insurance or related field.
- FCIP or CIP plus other related courses/pursuing further development is preferred.
- Specialized knowledge and experience required of a P&C fraud department.
- Strong knowledge of national claims guidelines, processes and procedures at national level.
- Strong knowledge of key performance indicators and performance indicators for the claims discipline.
- Working knowledge of statistical methods and claims management dashboards.
How you will succeed:
- Expert technical fraud knowledge.
- Working knowledge of adjudication processes across all claims disciplines
- Working knowledge of insurance concepts, practices and metrics
- Regularly interacts with middle and upper claims management, claims analytics team, portfolio and operational claims managers
- Regular interactions with business partners such as finance, actuarial, reinsurance and distribution.
- Strong ability to simplify claims business and portfolio concepts into compelling communication with a broad and varying audience.
- Uses business acumen and expert discipline knowledge to understand, explain and action adverse claims trends.
- The role requires detailed understanding of the targets and strategies being developed in national claims and organizational with business partners which may impact national claims.
- Trends, problems and issues will be very diverse in nature as our business evolves over time which will require the role to be on the edge of business developments for claims operations.

Salary information
Expected salary/hourly range $91,058 - $151,764 (min-max, full range).
Salary placement
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Incentive/Variable pay
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
