The
John Carroll School seeks a qualified School Nurse for full-time employment. The
School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff. This role provides direct healthcare services, manages student health records, responds to medical emergencies, and supports a safe and healthy learning environment. As a representative of The John Carroll School, the employee is expected to support and carry out the school’s Catholic mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide first aid, emergency care, and routine health assessments for students and staff.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policies.
- Monitor and manage student health plans, including those for allergies, asthma, diabetes, and other chronic conditions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
- Assist in the collection and management of health forms.
- Create and maintain documentation of all encounters, assessments, and interventions.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and coordinate with parents, emergency contacts, and healthcare providers.
- Educate students and staff on health, wellness, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Ensure compliance with state and local health regulations.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents to support student health needs.
- Develop and implement individual healthcare and emergency action plans.
- Monitor communicable diseases and assist with infection control procedures.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Nursing experience in a middle or high school setting preferred.
- Knowledge of student health regulations and immunization requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to quickly and competently assess medical situations and escalate as needed.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory state and federal background checks, driving record check, completion of VIRTUS training, and completion of all required employment paperwork.
Pay Range: $45,000 – 60,000, Annualized
