Join Valmet as a Trainee, LCA Analysis in Lucca to support Environmental Social Governance data collection, analysis, and reporting activities, while contributing to sustainability projects with a strong focus on delivering a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for a full converting Roll line. The role also supports the development of automation tools integrating Excel, SimaPro Automate and Python for data manipulation, quality checks and analysis.
What You’ll Do
Support ESG data collection, validation and consolidation across functions (Operations, Quality, Procurement, R&D)
Contribute to ESG analysis and reporting (trends, variance analysis) and prepare structured datasets for internal/external reporting
Support the Life Cycle Assessment project for a full converting line: data inventory, boundary/scenario definition, assumptions and documentation
Model and analyze Life Cycle Assessment results in SimaPro using ecoinvent (or equivalent) databases; help identify hotspots and improvement opportunities
Develop or enhance automation tools connecting Excel inputs with SimaPro Automate and Python workflows (import/export, transformations, checks)
Assist in preparing ESG documentation, maintaining evidence and tracking regulatory updates
Support internal communications and sustainability awareness initiatives (materials, one-pagers, training snippets)
Expectations for You
We are looking for someone with:
Currently pursuing or recently completing a degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Sustainability Management, Environmental Economics, or related fields
Strong interest in Environmental Social Governance, decarbonization, circular economy and sustainable packaging
Solid analytical mindset and strong Excel skills (structured datasets, formulas, pivot tables)
Basic knowledge of SimaPro, ecoinvent or similar LCA tools/databases
Curiosity, proactivity and strong teamwork skills
Nice to Have
Basic knowledge of Python for data analysis (e.g. pandas)
Understanding of sustainability concepts such as carbon footprint and Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions
Familiarity with LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) basics (ISO 14040/14044 is a plus)
General awareness of ESG reporting standards (e.g. GRI, ESRS), even at an introductory level
