Overview
We are seeking a Collibra Ranger / SME to drive the implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of a data governance framework using the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform. This role will act as the bridge between business, data, and technology teams, ensuring that data assets are well-governed, discoverable, and trusted across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, and optimise the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform
- Maintain communities, domains, assets, and workflows
- Ensure metadata is structured, consistent, and aligned to governance standards
- Support and enforce data governance policies, standards, and frameworks
- Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Business SMEs
- Facilitate governance forums and decision-making processes
- Oversee the data catalogue lifecycle (onboarding, classification, enrichment)
- Define and maintain business glossaries and data definitions
- Ensure lineage, ownership, and classification are captured accurately
- Act as a Collibra champion ("Ranger") across the business
- Train and support users to increase platform adoption
- Translate business requirements into Collibra solutions
- Work with data teams to monitor and improve data quality metrics
- Support regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR where applicable)
- Ensure audit readiness through proper governance controls
- Collaborate with technical teams to integrate Collibra with:
- Data warehouses / data lakes
- BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- ETL/ELT pipelines
- Support API usage and automation where applicable
Essential skills
- Proven experience working with Collibra Data Intelligence Platform
- Strong understanding of:
- Data governance frameworks
- Metadata management
- Data cataloguing
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to translate business needs into governance solutions
- Familiarity with:
- Data modelling concepts
- Data lineage tools
- SQL or data querying (advantageous)
- Understanding of system integrations and APIs (nice-to-have)
