As the VP of Software Product Development, the candidate will lead the strategic engineering and commercial delivery of Generative AI solutions within our Contact Center business units. This role is a blend of technical vision, organizational scaling, and business accountability. He/She will be responsible for building an offshore development center, managing the P&L of complex multi-party projects, and capturing high-value opportunities within the HKSAR Government and the Financial Services sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Delivery & Partner Management (P&L Responsibility)
- Financial Accountability: Take full ownership of the P&L (Profit & Loss) for specific projects. Manage budgets, optimize delivery costs, and ensure healthy margins for both internal and outsourced developments.
- Sub-contractor Governance: Lead the selection and management of 3rd party vendors. Define the Scope of Work (SOW), Roles & Responsibilities (R&R), and ensure rigorous oversight of partner delivery.
- Contractual Excellence: Oversee the commercial terms of outsourcing agreements to ensure projects remain on budget and meet performance benchmarks.
2. Internal Innovation & Knowledge Transfer
- Bridge to Internal IT: Act as the primary liaison with the internal IT team to leverage their successful GenAI internal deployments for commercial applications.
- Skill Transformation: Facilitate a structured knowledge transfer program to migrate “lessons learned” and technical AI competencies from internal IT to the engineering product team.
- Collaboration Tracking: Maintain a clear roadmap and progress dashboard for all cross-departmental AI initiatives.
3. Public Sector Business Development (HKSAR Government)
- Government Strategy: Identify and pursue strategic GenAI opportunities within the HKSAR Government , with a specific focus on the Revamp of 1823 Contact Center.
- AI Efficacy Enhancement: Work with account team to cover the HKSAR AI Efficacy Enhancement Team on software solutions that improve public service efficiency through automation.
- Tender Leadership: Provide technical and commercial leadership for government bids, ensuring solutions are compliant, innovative, and cost-effective.
4. Strategic Sector Collaboration
- Financial Services (FSI): Work closely with Product Team (Contact Center) and Presales Team (GenAI & Contact Center) to deploy AI solutions tailored for Banking and Insurance clients.
- Productization: Collaborate with Product Team to transform the internal “Enterprise GPT Platform” into a commercialized, scalable B2B product.
5. Engineering Strategy & Offshore Leadership
- ODC Establishment: Leverage past experience to support the end-to-end setup, staffing, and operational management of a high-performing Offshore Development Center (ODC) to accelerate GenAI and Contact Center roadmaps.
- Operational Excellence: Leverage past experience to implement agile methodologies across distributed teams, ensuring high-quality code delivery and architectural integrity.
- Scalability: Build a sustainable talent pipeline offshore to support rapid growth in GenAI use cases.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Professional Experience: 15+ years in Software Development and Product Management, with 5+ years in a senior executive role (VP or above).
- Financial Acumen: Proven experience managing a P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization for large-scale software projects.
- Offshore Experience: Demonstrated success in establishing and running an Offshore Development Center (ODC).
- Public Sector Experience: Familiarity with HKSAR government procurement, tendering processes, and technical standards is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
