Job Description:
Position Summary
The Ethics, Independence & Conflicts Associate supports the firm’s Ethics, Independence & Conflicts programs by performing operational, monitoring, and support activities across personal independence, conflicts, and monitoring functions. This role assists in maintaining compliance with applicable independence rules, firm policies, and regulatory requirements through accurate processing, documentation, and coordination of compliance and monitoring activities.
The Associate is responsible for executing routine processes, maintaining compliance systems and documentation, supporting research and data gathering, and assisting with the resolution of potential ethics, independence, or conflict matters. The role works closely with Senior Associates, Managers, engagement teams, and other stakeholders to support the effective operation of the firm’s governance framework.
This position provides foundational support across multiple compliance areas and contributes to the consistency, accuracy, and reliability of the firm’s ethics, independence, and conflicts processes.
Key Responsibilities
Personal Independence Support
• Assist in maintaining personal independence information within monitoring systems and related data.
• Support review processes by organizing and validating information related to financial relationships and independence requirements.
• Assist in identifying incomplete or inconsistent information and follow up for clarification as needed.
• Escalate potential independence concerns or unusual items to Senior Associates or Managers.
Conflicts Support
• Assist in performing conflict checks and relationship reviews for prospective and existing engagements.
• Compile and organize information used in conflict search and review processes.
• Support documentation of conflict checks, including maintaining records of search results and related analyses.
• Follow established procedures for escalating potential conflicts or unclear matters for further review.
Monitoring and Operations Support
• Assist in executing monitoring activities designed to assess compliance with ethics and independence policies and procedures.
• Maintain records of monitoring activities and support tracking of results and follow-up actions.
• Perform basic data validation and quality checks related to monitoring processes.
• Support documentation of monitoring outcomes and identified issues.
Systems and Data Management
• Maintain accurate and complete information within independence, conflicts, and monitoring systems.
• Perform data entry, updates, and validation activities across compliance platforms.
• Assist with system testing, data validation, and implementation of enhancements.
• Follow established procedures for maintaining data integrity across integrated systems.
Issue Identification and Escalation
• Identify potential data inconsistencies, compliance concerns, or process issues during routine activities.
• Gather relevant information to support review of potential issues.
• Escalate matters requiring analysis or interpretation to Senior Associates or Managers.
• Maintain documentation of identified issues and related actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Coordinate with Senior Associates and team members across personal independence, conflicts, and monitoring functions.
• Work with engagement teams and firm personnel to obtain required information and support compliance processes.
• Respond to basic inquiries regarding processes, systems, and requirements.
Process Support and Documentation
• Follow established procedures, policies, and controls related to ethics, independence, and conflicts processes.
• Maintain documentation and records supporting compliance activities.
• Assist with preparation of materials for internal reviews, audits, or regulatory inquiries.
• Support ongoing process standardization and documentation efforts.
Training and Administrative Support
• Assist with preparation and distribution of training materials and communications related to ethics and independence requirements.
• Support administrative aspects of training and awareness initiatives.
• Maintain records related to training and compliance communications.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
• 0–2 years of experience in public accounting, compliance, risk management, or professional services operations
• Basic understanding of professional services or regulatory environments preferred
• Experience working with data systems or enterprise platforms preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
