Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in business application consulting specialise in consulting services for a variety of business applications, helping clients optimise operational efficiency. These individuals analyse client needs, implement software solutions, and provide training and support for seamless integration and utilisation of business applications, enabling clients to achieve their strategic objectives.

As a Guidewire consulting generalist at PwC, you will specialise in providing consulting services for Guidewire software solutions. You will apply an in-depth knowledge of Guidewire applications to assist clients in optimising operational efficiency through analysis, implementation, training, and support specific to Guidewire software.

We are looking for candidates who bring in-depth market experience, who see technology as a way to enable and drive human innovation and who want to be a part of a community of solvers, to tackle the biggest challenges in society. 

 

What will you do? 

• Own the test strategy for data products across ingestion, transformation and consumption layers 

• Establish quality gates and evidence-driven sign-off for releases and data migrations 

• Design automated validation that runs within orchestration/CI pipelines to detect regressions early 

• Translate business and data requirements into risk-based test plans with full traceability to acceptance criteria 

• Verify schema conformance, data types, referential integrity, constraints, duplicates, null handling, drift/anomaly detection and business rules from source to presentation 

• Validate ETL/ELT jobs (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow) for correctness, idempotency, recovery and SLA adherence 

• Reconcile counts and aggregates across landing zones, Parquet/Delta layers, Snowflake tables and curated marts 

• Implement tests-as-code using SQL/Python/PYSpark and frameworks integrated into CI/CD 

• Test file and API contracts for upstream and downstream systems 

• Validate privacy controls (masking/minimisation), data lineage and retention in line with GDPR/POPIA 

• Analyse failures, triage with developers, track to closure and communicate coverage/clearance status 

• Work in Agile teams using Jira/Xray (or Azure DevOps) for test and defect management 

 

What are we looking for? 

• 5+ years leading data testing/QA on analytics/platform projects 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or related field 

• ISTQB Certified Tester (or equivalent) 

• Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS), Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or data quality tooling (nice to have) 

 

Desirable skillset: 

• Strong SQL and at least one programming language (Python preferred; Scala/Java advantageous) 

• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT and orchestration (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow) 

• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Databricks, AWS Glue, Snowflake) 

• Comfort with data lakes and formats (e.g., S3, Parquet/Delta), dimensional models and analytics marts 

• Familiar with Agile/Scaled Agile, test management & defect management (e.g., Jira/Xray) 

• Clear documentation and communication skills for technical and business audiences
