This role maximizes workforce effectiveness at the Geismar facility by prioritizing, planning, and scoping maintenance work orders. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler partners with Production and Maintenance to review and prioritize backlog, develop accurate work scopes (labor, materials, equipment, tools, and cost), and support safe, efficient execution to maintain plant reliability and housekeeping standards.

Key Accountabilities:
Comply with the Maintenance Planner & Scheduler roles and responsibilities defined in the Chevron-Renewable Energy Group Geismar Work Management Process
Manage backlog per the Work Management Process (weekly/monthly reviews; purge aged work orders).
Lead the weekly Backlog Management meeting.
Develop job plans (steps, crafts/durations, parts/materials, tools/equipment, drawings, safety/environmental requirements, MOC inputs, and QA/QC needs).
Convert maintenance program outputs into standardized work templates.
Partner with Production and Maintenance to prioritize, plan, schedule, and execute backlog work.
Advance work orders from “Approved” to “Ready to Schedule.”
Coordinate with Maintenance Supervision to level workforce needs across the facility.
Provide planning support for turnarounds as needed.
Create purchase requisitions and coordinate external services; verify parts availability and order as needed.
Provide labor, resource, and cost estimates.
Order and kit materials for planned work.
Coordinate with Operations to ensure equipment availability.
Participate in daily and weekly Maintenance/Operations planning.
Support the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
Complete required monthly training.
Support cost forecasting and budgeting activities.
Review PM and condition-based monitoring tasks; update parts lists and task steps as agreed.
Track and report select Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Other frequent duties:
Provide operational support as needed.
Support maintenance/engineering/operations leadership as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrate attention to detail
Ability to read and understand process flow sheets, P&IDs, specifications, and drawings.
Knowledge of common production equipment such as centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, gearboxes, motors, electrical distribution systems, instrumentation systems and fixed equipment.
Knowledge of standard industrial safety procedures such as lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, hot work permit, elevated work, blinding, isolations, purging, mobile equipment operation and permitting.
Knowledge of standard maintenance and repair procedures such as pipefitting, pressure testing, rigging, equipment alignments, precision measurements, disassembly and assembly procedures of rotating and fixed equipment, instrument calibrations, electrical testing and maintenance of motors, sub stations and electrical distribution equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel).
Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
Manages multiple priorities under time and cost constraints with minimal supervision.
Stays current on technical developments and applies improvements to work processes.
Advanced CMMS proficiency (e.g., create/modify work orders, BOMs, assets, and PM frequencies).
Support turnaround execution (e.g., field/zone coordinator support) as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of turnaround/maintenance/equipment repair experience, including 2 years in maintenance planning and scheduling (maintenance, shutdown, and/or project planning).

Working knowledge of CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP).
Preferred Qualifications:
Journeyman’s certificate or related technical diploma
Demonstrated strengths in organization, planning, and resourcing; ability to lead craft crews.
