Maintenance Technician/Certified Pool Operator
The Maintenance Technician/Certified Pool Operator is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of swimming pools and spas while also performing custodial and porter duties to keep facilities clean, safe, and welcoming. This dual role ensures water quality meets all regulatory standards, equipment functions properly, and common areas remain clean, sanitized, and fully stocked.

Key Responsibilities
· Monitor, test, and adjust water chemistry (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, stabilizers).
· Operate and maintain pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical feeders.
· Perform routine and preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient pool operations.
· Backwash filters, clean strainers, and ensure proper circulation and turnover rates.
· Maintain pool decks and surrounding areas in a clean and orderly condition.
· Safely handle, store, and apply pool chemicals in compliance with all regulations.
· Maintain required logs and documentation for regulatory compliance and inspections.
· Assist with pool opening/closing procedures and equipment troubleshooting.
· Clean assigned areas, including furniture, fixtures, telephones, walls, windows, blinds, and vents.
· Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility, including restrooms and break areas.
· Clean and sanitize restroom facilities; restock toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other supplies.
· Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
· Perform general cleaning, light floor care, and assist with special event setups.
· Vacuum, dust, and maintain the cleanliness of common areas and high-traffic spaces.
· Carry out additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
· Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Knowledge of pool operation standards and water chemistry principles (CPO certified).
· Knowledge of general maintenance requirements, safety guidelines, and required reporting.
· Familiarity with custodial equipment and cleaning procedures.
· Ability to interpret and complete verbal and written instructions.
· Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
· Professional customer service and communication skills.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Qualifications
· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· 0–3 years of directly related experience in pool operations, custodial work, or facility maintenance.
· Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
