We are looking for a Senior Staff Database Administrator / Software Engineer to help achieve this mission.
The Senior Staff Database Administrator / Software Engineer will contribute to our Engineering organization by designing, optimizing, and maintaining high-throughput database systems that power our cloud security platform. This role will focus on ensuring reliability, scalability, automation, and performance across multiple database technologies and cloud environments.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
• Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server on Linux, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments at scale
• Write and optimize high-performance SQL to meet strict throughput and low-latency requirements
• Architect and manage Always On Availability Groups and cross-platform replication topologies
• Integrate Microsoft SQL Server on Linux with enterprise Active Directory infrastructure
• Build infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform for repeatable and auditable database provisioning
• Develop monitoring and alerting solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to ensure proactive issue detection
• Automate routine database administration tasks using Shell scripting and Python
• Collaborate with application engineering teams to optimize schema design and query performance
• Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery testing, and incident response activities
• Continuously improve automation, observability, and operational efficiency across database platforms
YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE IF:
• You have deep operational and development experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later versions running on Linux environments
• You have production-level administration and query development experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL
• You have proven expertise writing and tuning high-performance SQL capable of sustaining high transaction throughput with minimal latency
• You have strong knowledge of indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, query optimization, and concurrency management
• You have hands-on experience configuring Kerberos and Active Directory authentication for Microsoft SQL Server running on Linux hosts
• You have experience implementing and managing database replication and high availability solutions across multiple database platforms
• You have experience automating database operations, health checks, and deployment tasks using Shell scripting and Python
• You are experienced with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
• You have experience building observability dashboards and alerting solutions using Prometheus and Grafana
• You are comfortable designing and operating database workloads within Amazon Web Services environments
Nice to have:
• Experience with Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies, cluster management, and query optimization
• Experience with Redis caching layer design, cluster configuration, and operational management
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services Database Migration Service for heterogeneous migrations and replication
• Familiarity with Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark SQL, and lakehouse architectures
• A strong passion for automation and eliminating repetitive manual operational tasks
