PURPOSE
- The Finance Core System Delivery Lead is accountable for the end‑to‑end delivery, governance, and operational readiness of Finance, Actuarial, and Investment core systems, with a strong focus on Finance Cloud adoption and IFRS 17‑compliant solutions across FWD Group.
- This role ensures that Finance platforms are regulatory‑compliant, cloud‑first, resilient, and consistently implemented across markets, enabling accurate financial reporting, actuarial calculations, and investment analytics.
- The role acts as a senior delivery and technology partner to Group and Local CFOs, Finance Transformation leaders, Actuarial leadership, and Technology stakeholders, ensuring that Finance Cloud platforms and IFRS 17 capabilities are delivered on time, audit‑ready, and fit for purpose.
KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES
Finance Cloud Delivery Leadership
- Lead and govern delivery of Finance Cloud platforms supporting General Ledger, Sub‑Ledger, Actuarial, and Investment reporting.
- Ensure Finance Cloud solutions enable standardised, scalable, and secure financial processing across markets.
- Drive consistent adoption of Group‑approved Finance Cloud architecture, integration patterns, and data standards.
- Ensure cloud platforms are production‑ready with appropriate security, resilience, observability, and support models.
IFRS 17 Delivery & Regulatory Assurance
- Own technology delivery accountability for IFRS 17‑related systems, including actuarial engines, sub‑ledgers, data pipelines, and reporting platforms.
- Ensure IFRS 17 solutions meet regulatory, audit, and control requirements, including:
- Data lineage and traceability
- Reconciliation and financial controls
- Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of results
- Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure audit‑ready delivery and effective remediation of findings.
- Support post‑implementation stability, change management, and regulatory enhancements.
End‑to‑End Delivery Governance
- Govern scope, timeline, cost, quality, and delivery risk across multi‑market Finance initiatives.
- Establish and enforce delivery governance, stage gates, and quality controls in line with Group standards.
- Provide senior escalation and decision leadership for delivery risks, cross-team dependencies, and major incidents.
- Ensure smooth transition from project delivery into business‑as‑usual operations, with clearly defined ownership and support readiness.
Platform & Solution Execution
- Translate Finance and Actuarial business priorities into executable delivery roadmapsaligned to approved strategies.
- Recommend and influence Finance Cloud and IFRS 17 technology solutions.
- Guide prioritisation and sequencing of Finance delivery initiatives.
- Ensure solution design to complywith Group Finance Cloud strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Security and Data standards, escalating expectations as required.
- Ensure seamless integration between Finance systems, Data Mesh, upstream source systems, and downstream reporting platforms.
- Drive reuse of reference architectures, patterns, and shared services across markets to improve scalability and efficiency.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as a senior technology and delivery interface for CFOs, Chief Actuaries, Finance Transformation leaders, and Executive stakeholders.
- Influence stakeholders through domain expertise, data-driven insights and transparent delivery reporting
- Coordinate delivery across Group Office, Local BUs, system integrators, and strategic vendors.
- Oversee vendor selection, commercial governance, and delivery performance management.
Continuous Improvement & Modern Delivery Practices
- Champion Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud‑native delivery practices within Finance technology teams.
- Continuously assess platform performance against regulatory change, business growth, and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, data quality, operational efficiency, and cost optimisation.
Team & capability leadership
- Build, coach and retain high-performing Finance core system delivery teams
- Strengthen delivery, regulatory, and cloud capability across Group and local BU
- Establish clear ownership, succession and capability uplift plans
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Financial Services, Insurance, or complex regulated environments.
- Proven experience delivering Finance and Actuarial platforms, including IFRS 17 implementations.
- Strong understanding of insurance finance, actuarial processes, and regulatory reporting.
- Experience leading large‑scale, multi‑market cloud transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
Finance Cloud & IFRS 17 Expertise
- Deep understanding of Finance Cloud platforms supporting General Ledger, Sub‑Ledger, Actuarial, and Investment reporting.
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of IFRS 17 technology architectures, including actuarial engines, calculation services, sub‑ledgers, data pipelines, and financial reporting platforms.
- Proven experience designing and delivering solutions that support data lineage, traceability, reconciliation, and financial controls required for regulatory and audit compliance.
- Solid understanding of insurance finance, actuarial processes, and statutory / management reporting within regulated environments.
Cloud, Data & Integration
- Strong expertise in cloud‑native architectures on AWS and Azure, including security, resilience, scalability, and cost optimisation.
- Experience with enterprise integration patterns, APIs, event‑driven architectures, and data pipelines.
- Good understanding of data platforms and analytics architectures, including Finance data models and alignment with Data Mesh principles.
- Ability to design and govern end‑to‑end data flows from source systems through Finance Cloud to downstream reporting and analytics.
Delivery, Engineering & Operations
- Strong experience with end‑to‑end technology delivery, from solution design through build, test, deployment, and production support.
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation practices in regulated environments.
- Experience ensuring platforms are production‑ready, with appropriate observability, incident management, and support models.
- Understanding of operational risk management, change control, and controlled release practices for financial systems.
Architecture, Standards & Governance
- Good understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) and their application in large, complex organisations.
- Ability to evaluate and apply architecture patterns, reference designs, and technology standards consistently across markets.
- Experience embedding security, regulatory, and audit requirements into solution design and delivery.
- Capability to assess new technologies and vendors, balancing business value, risk, cost, and regulatory impact.
Stakeholder & Commercial Acumen
- Ability to work effectively with C‑level and senior business stakeholders, translating business and regulatory requirements into actionable delivery plans.
- Experience engaging and governing system integrators, actuarial software vendors, and cloud service providers.
- Strong understanding of delivery trade‑offs in cost, risk, timeline, and quality within Finance transformation programmes.
Regulatory & Audit Responsibilities
- Own technology delivery accountability for ensuring Finance Cloud and IFRS 17 platforms are audit‑ready at all times, including design, implementation, and run‑state operations.
- Ensure Finance and Actuarial systems support end‑to‑end data lineage, traceability, and reconciliation, from source systems through sub‑ledgers to statutory and management reporting.
- Embed regulatory controls, validation checks, and governance mechanisms into Finance Cloud platforms to meet internal control, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams to support audits, regulatory reviews, and assurance activities.
- Ensure timely remediation of audit findings, control gaps, and regulatory observations, coordinating delivery plans across Group and Local Business Units.
- Govern change management for regulatory enhancements to ensure controlled releases, proper documentation, and minimal operational risk.
- Maintain alignment with evolving IFRS 17 interpretations, regulatory guidance, and local statutory requirements, ensuring technology solutions remain compliant across markets.
