Summary: The Senior Manager, Principal Gift Stewardship plays a vital role in executing strategic, personalized, high-touch stewardship experiences for Blood Cancer United’s most significant donors. This role partners closely with the Director of Stewardship, Senior Manager of Major Gift Stewardship, and the Principal Gifts team by owning the stewardship strategy, and coordinating tailored communications and plans that deepen donor engagement and support long-term giving. The Senior Manager coordinates complex stewardship activities, including leadership correspondence, donor reporting, and tracks stewardship deliverables. Working cross-functionally with Philanthropy, Donor Engagement, Executive Operations and Mission, this role ensures stewardship efforts are delivered accurately, consistently and in alignment with organizational priorities. With strong attention to detail and sound judgement, the Senior Manager supports stewardship for high-value donor relationships, ensures data integrity within the CRM, and contributes to a seamless, donor-centric experience for Principal Gift donors and the National Board of Directors. This role requires sound judgment, business acumen, an understanding of complex donor relationships involving $1M+ commitments and regular interaction with executive leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Principal Donor Stewardship & Relationship Support • Oversee Individual Stewardship Plans and support the implementation of touchpoints developed in collaboration with the VP of Philanthropy and Directors of Philanthropy for the organization’s most generous donors. • In collaboration with the Manager of Major Gift Stewardship, execute the stewardship touchpoints outlined in personalized stewardship plans, developed by the Senior Director of Stewardship in collaboration with the VP of Philanthropy and Directors of Philanthropy. • Provide direct support to VP of Philanthropy and Directors of Philanthropy in managing key donor relationships, and coordinating stewardship activities, which often span several areas of the organization and require close coordination with Senior and Executive Leadership. Responsibilities include: ◦ Lead CEO and other ELT stewardship communications on behalf of Principal Gifts team. ◦ Manage the intake and processing of gift agreements, pledge documentation, and reminders for multi-year pledges. ◦ Develop and track stewardship deliverables and proactively manage timelines, including reminding staff of upcoming deadlines or donor outreach needs. ◦ Develop and coordinate production and delivery of high-touch stewardship materials, such as impact reports, milestone recognitions, and event follow-ups. • Assist with stewardship and communication efforts for National Board of Directors, ensuring a consistent and tailored approach to their engagement. • Drive and own the stewardship strategy for Principal Donors—proactively identifying, recommending, and initiating strategic moves and personalized touchpoints to deepen donor engagement and advance key relationships, through close collaboration with VP of Philanthropy and each Director of Philanthropy. CRM & Data Integrity • Maintain accurate and up-to-date constituent records in the CRM, ensuring all stewardship activities, donor preferences, and communications are properly documented. • Ensure all stewardship actions are captured to support reporting, planning, and analysis for the Principal Gifts and Donor Engagement teams. • Identify and escalate data quality issues, partnering with Data Insights and IT teams to support resolution and improve system functionality. Cross-Team Collaboration • Collaborate with colleagues across Donor Engagement, Philanthropy, Executive Operations and Mission teams to source content, data, and outcomes for stewardship materials, and to ensure seamless donor experience of Principal Donors on behalf of ELT and Principal Gifts teams. • Partner with Prospect Development to develop awareness of prospects identified for the Principal Gift team and support their stewardship and qualification efforts. • Develop and implement stewardship strategy for Principal Prospects as part of ongoing cultivation. • Engage confidently and collaboratively with senior and executive leaders to support complex donor strategies and ensure alignment across functions. • Operate with a high degree of accountability and discretion in managing sensitive, high-stakes donor relationships and cross-functional communications.
#LI-Remote Education & Experience Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant coursework or certifications in nonprofit management, communications, or fundraising a plus • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in donor stewardship, fundraising operations, or a related nonprofit advancement role • Experience supporting major or principal gift fundraising teams, with a strong understanding of donor engagement and stewardship best practices • Proven ability to draft professional correspondence and donor-facing materials with attention to tone and detail • Experience maintaining CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and tracking donor activity and preferences • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines • Comfort working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with Canva or other design tools a plus

We are excited to share the base pay range for this position is $95K to $119K. The offered compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Blood Cancer United we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the current compensation of similarly situated roles and direct team members. Base compensation is only one component of our Total Rewards program, which also includes an annual incentive plan and a competitive benefits package.
