

The opportunity
As a Planning & Project Controls Manager you will report to the E&U Planning & Project Controls Director; support the Energy & Utilities business to transition the operational Lines of Business to best practice methodology and execution for capital works planning and project controls to assist continual uplift in project performance.
This is a full-time permanent role and will be based out of our North Ryde office in Sydney with flexible/hybrid working. You will also be required to travel to site when required.
What you’ll do
Lead a team of Planning & Project Controls professionals to deliver the Planning & Project Controls capability and support services on all nominated execution phase (live) capital projects and tenders for the nominated Line of Business, ensuring timely, accurate and transparent outputs in accordance with The Downer Standard (TDS) and relevant E&U Standards, Policies and Processes.
You will be responsible for ensuring governance, assurance and capability of the planning and project control functional resources using P6 and InEight, respectively. In addition, monitor, and input into the Portfolio Resource Plan, to allocate the right person at the right time to continually improve capacity and capability of planning & project controls resources

What we’re looking for
Tertiary qualification – Degree, or equivalent, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management or Project Management preferred
5+ years experience leading a team of project controls professionals
5+ years experience in Power Projects (Transmission Lines, Substations, BESS)
10+ years site construction experience on major & complex infrastructures and utilities as planning & project controls SME
Strong communication skills, and stakeholder management skills
Experience in establishing Earned Value Management System, Time & Cost Controls, KPI’s, and Progress Measurement
Expert in claims, extension of times, and delay analysis
Attention to detail
Certifications/Competence on Primavera P6 Scheduling tool
Certification/Competence in the use of an enterprise project controls/ construction management software, e.g. InEight, RIB, EcoSys, Procore, Synchro - Desirable
Experience working in a functional matrix environment
Oracle DB qualifications –Desirable
A Project Management certification - Desirable
Risk & Opportunity Management - Desirable
Change management - Desirable
