Enterprise Solutions Architect · 12 Month MTC · Martin Place, Sydney CBD · Hybrid (3 days in-office)
This is an opportunity for an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect to join a small architecture function with broad scope, strong visibility, and the ability to make decisions that stick
We're in the middle of a significant technology uplift - multiple concurrent programmes, external partner integrations, and a modernisation agenda that is creating real, meaningful architecture work. Not governance for governance's sake. Actual design, actual decisions, actual delivery.
It’s an initial 12-month max term contract with meaningful scope, visible impact, and the chance to shape decisions across a critical delivery period
About the role
You'll sit at the intersection of business and technology, working across multiple concurrent programmes and owning end-to-end solution design across a portfolio of high-priority initiatives. This isn't a single-project engagement. You'll be expected to hold context across workstreams, make design decisions that stick, and produce architecture artefacts to a high standard from day one.
For the right person, this is the kind of role that offers real ownership, strong visibility, and the opportunity to influence both delivery and longer-term architecture direction. You’ll be close to the work, close to decision-making, and able to see the impact of your thinking across multiple initiatives.
What you’ll be doing
Designing and producing High Level Solution Architectures (HLSAs) and review low-level designs across multiple programmes
Making and documenting key technology decisions that unblock delivery teams and reduce downstream rework
Working closely with Product Owners, engineers, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned to business outcomes
Representing Challenger in technical discussions across external partner programmes and helping keep delivery aligned
Contributing to the enterprise architecture direction and reference architecture where relevant
Participating in the Architecture Review Board and supporting governance across solutions, designs and decisions
Managing relationships with technology vendors and ensuring partner delivery stays aligned
Identifying and managing technical debt and interdependency risks across overlapping workstreams
Ensuring all solutions comply with relevant governance, cybersecurity, privacy and data standards
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect who has owned complex designs across multiple domains and is ready to add value quickly in a high-impact role.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working across ambiguity, can hold context across several moving parts, and is comfortable making practical decisions in environments where pace, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations all need to be balanced. It requires someone who has owned end-to-end solution architecture - not just contributed to it.
Just as importantly, you’ll need the judgment to assess options, navigate trade-offs, and communicate recommendations with credibility across both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
As well as;
Essential
Demonstrated hands-on technology architecture experience across complex enterprise environments
End-to-end solution architecture capability across applications, data, integration and infrastructure
Experience working across complex delivery environments, including SDLC, multiple concurrent initiatives, and external technology partners
Strong stakeholder communication and influencing skills, including the ability to translate complexity for non-technical audiences and guide decisions with senior stakeholders
Strong commercial and architectural judgment, with the ability to assess trade-offs, make pragmatic decisions, and align technology choices to business value
Strong IT landscape and enterprise technology knowledge
Nice to have
Financial services or insurance industry experience
Enterprise architecture experience aligned to technology strategy
Exposure to investment, life insurance or front office systems
TOGAF certification or equivalent framework knowledge
