Role Purpose
The IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for analyzing, designing, planning, optimization and governing the implementation of cost-effective On-Prem and Cloud IT Infrastructure solutions. Create, Maintain, Simplify and ensure Scalability, Security, Reliability, as well as cost‑efficient IT Infrastructure estate across data centers, cloud platforms, networks, storage, servers and related systems for Telecel Ghana in line with Telecel Group long term goals and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
•Architecting and designing highly available IT Network and Infrastructure solutions covering compute, storage, network, virtualization, security controls, and cloud services to meet standards as required by the business.
•Support the IT team to review Network and software design to confirm compliance with architecture principles, specifications, lead design discussions, present ideas to stakeholders and assess emerging infrastructure technologies and recommend adoption.
•Define and enforce IT Infrastructure architecture standards and policies. Ensure solutions comply with security, regulatory, and operational requirements. Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance/approvals within governance processes to project team members (consultancy).
•Set targets for success and carry out on-going risk analysis. Identify and manage risks to success and escalate accordingly.
•Analyse capacity trends and recommend appropriate infrastructure scaling strategies. Also support performance optimization, availability planning, lifecycle management, and develop disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
Must have Technical / Professional Qualifications
•BSc. Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent.
•Masters in related discipline is a plus.
•More than 5 years’ experience in the IT Network and Infrastructure architectures in a telecom or comparative enterprise grade environment
•Excellent knowledge of telecommunication networks and cloud technologies
•Demonstrated extensive Network and Architecture design management experience in large and complex environments
•Professional qualifications in a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience; Networking technologies (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls, load balancers) Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP—depending on org) Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) Operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), Identity and access management, Infrastructure automation & DevOps (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines), Disaster recovery, backup, and high availability architecture and skill set experience for example.
•Cisco Certifications (CCNA / CCNP Enterprise)
•Data & AI Certifications
•Security Certifications (CISSP/CompTIA Security+)
•Skilled in AWS, GCP, Azure and OCI a must.
•TOGAF (Enterprise Architecture)
•Cloud certification required.
