About Us
Encompassing 12 district authority areas Lancashire County Council is the fourth largest local authority in England. Acting as both the Local Highway and Traffic Authority the County Council's Highways Service is responsible for maintaining the safe and effective use of its highway network. As part of that role the Highway Service examines in excess of 5000 planning applications annually.
The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with significant technical experience of working in the field of development control, highways safety or highways transportation.
The post holders will use their knowledge and skills to provide professional highway advice, guidance and support to local planning authorities, developers and other stakeholders on the highway and transport implications of development, identifying issues and potential solutions.
You will be working within a well-established, organised team where you will be supported and allowed to build on your existing knowledge and skills and actively encouraged to realise your full potential.
The role will involve attending meetings and undertaking site visits. Consequently the successful applicants will be required to hold a valid driving licence and will need to have a motor vehicle available for use on official journeys, where travel expenses will be paid.
This post is a permanent full-time position (37 hours per week) with the primary office base being at Widow Hill Road, Burnley, although flexible working is available.
