

Nimble Giant Entertainment is looking for a full-time Technical Designer.
This role sits at the intersection of game design, engineering, and content creation, and is key to transforming design ideas into robust, scalable, and technically sound gameplay systems.
As a Technical Designer, you will prototype, implement, and maintain gameplay systems using Unreal Engine, working closely with Game Designers, Engineers, Artists, and Production to ensure features are performant, maintainable, and aligned with the creative vision across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and implement gameplay systems and mechanics using Unreal Engine, primarily through Blueprints.
Act as a technical bridge between Game Design and Engineering, ensuring feasibility, scalability, and clarity of implementation.
Create and maintain reusable gameplay setups, tools, and systems to support designers and content creators.
Collaborate closely with Engineering to align gameplay systems with technical requirements and production constraints.
Support the iteration and optimization of gameplay features in collaboration with Engineering.
Debug and iterate on gameplay systems throughout all stages of development.
Support designers by improving workflows, documentation, and tooling within Unreal.
Work closely with QA to identify, reproduce, and resolve gameplay-related issues.
Contribute to task estimation, risk assessment, and planning in collaboration with Leads and Production.
Maintain clear documentation of systems, workflows, and implementation guidelines.
Stay up to date with Unreal Engine features, industry trends, and emerging best practices in game design and technical implementation.
Requirements
Professional experience as a Technical Designer, Gameplay Designer, or similar hybrid role in the video game industry.
Strong hands-on experience with Unreal Engine, especially Blueprints and gameplay implementation workflows.
Solid understanding of gameplay systems, player interaction, game feel, and systemic design.
Ability to collaborate closely with engineers on technical implementation and gameplay systems.
Experience developing and optimizing gameplay features for multiple platforms (PC, consoles, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex systems into clear, actionable solutions.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Designers, Engineers, Artists, QA, and Production.
Familiarity with debugging and gameplay iteration workflows in Unreal.
Experience working across multiple development stages, from pre-production to release.
Strong communication skills and ability to document and explain technical systems clearly.
Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken) – mandatory.
Nice to Have
Experience shipping at least one multiplatform title.
Experience building tools or editor extensions for designers.
Knowledge of Unreal systems such as AI, animation blueprints, physics, UI, or networking.
Familiarity with live games, post-launch support, or content pipelines.
Basic programming knowledge or scripting experience.
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
