Position Summary
The Technician II, Engineering position is responsible for the assisting the manufacturing team with design and development of new products and making improvements to existing products and processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Responsibilities are focused on development of new manufacturing processes and improving existing processes, in compliance with ISO and other regulatory organizations (OSHA, IAPMO, ASTM, ICC, NFPA, etc. and any others applicable to the product being developed).
Position Responsibilities
Works with engineering to design, prototype, and validate new metal components and products.
Creates prototypes for engineering using manual mills, lathes, and CNC centers.
Programs CNC machines for full production parts.
Supports and coaches CNC operators with tooling and processing techniques.
Work as needed with Compliance, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and Safety to execute the design test validation plan in Stage Gate.
Participate with the Engineering Team on projects in the feasibility and early development phases to conduct testing and allow the engineers to provide recommendations for product or design improvements.
Prepares technical drawing library for engineering information and reviews current drawing.
Work with internal and external vendors and consultants to create and test functional prototypes of new devices, component changes, and design improvements.
Develops manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated production processes for new and existing products.
Supports manufacturing floor in day to day operations.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and apparatus for testing and validating designs.
Expert in CNC programming, methods, and tooling.
PC Computer Proficiency with Solidworks and Microsoft Office.
Ability to participate on multiple engineering projects focused on the mechanical range of the company’s technology and product areas.
Ability to complete tasks on-time with supervision.
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving to get past technical issues.
Ability to communicate technical and non-technical topics clearly and professionally.
Ability to learn and demonstrate understanding of complex technical topics.
Good interpersonal skills in order to work in cross-functional teams.
Knowledge and experience in industry code such as IAPMO, ASTM, ICC, NFPA, etc preferred.
Practical knowledge of plumbing and water infrastructure installation and application techniques preferred.
Education and Certification
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher is preferred.
